Maybe you’ve been depressed for many years, like I was. You see…

I know depression.

I know what it’s like to have nothing to live for. When the whole world looks gray. When your only escape is sleep.

When you don’t care about anything, cause nothing matters.

I know how horrifying it can be.

I know what it’s like to rust out gun barrels with your own saliva, as you search for the courage and the strength to pull the trigger to end your own miserable life.

And all the while, thinking the world would be a better place if I were not in it.

I know depression.





Maybe you do too. Maybe you’re depressed right now.

If not, there’s no way you can understand the dark, dreary world of true depression.

Everything takes so much effort. Nothing helps, really. Those around you can’t understand why you don’t just snap out of it. (As if you were daydreaming!)

People say these things because they don’t understand.

Either they’ve never been depressed, or else their depression was mild enough to not disrupt their lives.

Either way… they just don’t understand.

Now admittedly, some people do feel sorry for themselves and call it depression. Some people are looking for sympathy.

Also, some people mistake their grief and sorrow for depression. These are three distinct emotions each handled with their own unique technique.

For now, we’ll focus on depression.

I ended my depression completely – and maybe you can too!





There’s nothing like the feeling of knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt – that if my depression were to ever rear it’s ugly head again, I could grab it, smash it, and make it go away – all in a matter of days.

There’s not the slightest doubt. There’s no more wondering, no more worrying. There’s no more fear of depression.

    It’s almost too good to be true. I can’t believe you can really end depression that easily. I have been depressed my whole life, and it is a chemical imbalance, not at attitude.

      I agree with you. It is a chemical imbalance.

      But what causes the chemical imbalance?

      Is it dumb luck?

      Is it chance?

      Or, is it my subconscious mind – which controls all the OTHER balances in my life…?

      And by the way, isn’t love, isn’t happiness, isn’t every emotion you ever feel – a result of chemical balance?

      Wait a minute.

      What if the balance of my chemicals is just the MECHANISM – and not the cause?

      Then what?

    You actually make it appear so easy in your presentation however I find depression to be actually one thing which I
    think kind of feels too complex for a simple explanation.

      I believe depression is basically caused from shutting out our feelings. When we don’t let the feelings flow, we start to shut down and get depressed.

      The more I opened up to my flow of feelings, the better I felt… and the ‘lighter’ I felt…

      I believe it’s our stories about our emotions that cause most of the problems -

      “Emotions are bad and wrong and I shouldn’t have them. Emotions are the source of my pain.”

      Emotions don’t cause emotional pain. The pain – depression or otherwise – comes from separating ourselves from our emotions.

      We end up feeling our stories instead of our true feelings. We end up in a static state – where nothing much seems to change.

      I say, when we are an open channel to our feelings, then they flow through us, and it’s almost impossible to get depressed.

    This sounds easy but I do not think I could survive letting in all of those feelings the hurt the pain is so unbearable.but I’m going to listen to what you have to say for sure. Teresa thanks

      Hi Teresa,

      good to hear from you!

      Actually it’s not always easy to let in your feelings. It depends on how much you’ve had to shut down… just to survive your childhood (or any other age, for that matter).

      However, it is do-able. I can remember dealing with quite a bit of hurt and pain. The first time I did the meditation on releasing emotions, I cried my eyes out for three days.

      Literally, three days!

      Obviously, I was alone. I sure wouldn’t want anyone to see me that way.

      And that’s just one example – I’ve had many many days where I found myself crying most of the day.

      I had mountains of hurt to work through. And there’s still probably a few foothills left to climb.

      In all that time, I noticed something funny. I always got to the edge of it being unbearable, but it
      never quite got so bad that I wanted to stop. (Of course, many times I couldn’t stop – once the dam busted open.)

    I’m. On anti depressants but still have feelings of despair. I’m. Not severly depressed as before but I know that I’m still depresse. My meds is costing me an arm and aleg but I know that without them I won’t cope iv resigned myself to feeling this way. If there is a way of that I can get complete contentment like be sooo happy

    I say: “Fuck you!” According to your definition: Wouldn’t shutting out feelings would also shut out the feeling of depression?

      While I appreciate your desire to have sex with me, I think we should get to know each other a little bit better first.

      As for your interpretation of what I’ve written, I would respectfully disagree.

      I don’t think anyone chooses to suffer from depression.

      I see depression as an unfortunate consequence of shutting down your feelings – but that is oversimplifying it. It’s much more complex than that.

      Depression occurs on a sliding scale. When it comes to severe depression, people aren’t able to get in touch with their rage – so I would say things haven’t reached that stage for you.

      And I wholeheartedly believe some people do need to be taking antidepressants.

      Depression is like being down in a dark painful hole. You might be one foot down, five feet down, or fifty feet down.

      How deep you are in the hole determines what works best to help you feel better.
